Nasher Miles Achieves 400+ Offline Stores Milestone Following Swift QCommerce Entry, Accelerates Make in India Campaign
Nasher Miles, India's leading premium luggage brand known for its vibrant and stylish designs, today announced a significant milestone in its offline expansion strategy. The company has successfully established a presence in over 400 stores across India in just two months after launching its offline retail operations.
This rapid expansion marks a pivotal moment for Nasher Miles, showcasing its transition from a predominantly online brand to a true omnichannel player in the Indian luggage market. The company's offline footprint now spans 200 cities across 24 states, with plans to reach 500 stores by Diwali and 1,000 stores by the end of the year.
Lokesh Daga, Co-founder & Director of Nasher Miles, commented on this achievement, “Our aspiration was always to be an omnichannel brand. After establishing a strong online presence and reaching a scale of Rs.100+ crores, we felt the time was right to expand into offline channels, which still represent the largest segment in our category.”
The company's rapid offline growth has been fueled by several factors, including its historic face-off with another luggage brand and the corresponding 'all shark' deal on season 3 of Shark Tank India, which significantly boosted brand popularity. Nasher Miles also strategically hired Anil Verma, a luggage industry veteran with experience in setting up Samsonite and Delsey in India, to spearhead their offline expansion.
In addition to traditional retail, Nasher Miles has made significant strides in the quick commerce sector, partnering with platforms like Blinkit and Zepto. Despite the challenges of accommodating bulky products in dark stores, the initial response has been encouraging, indicating a strong demand for immediate delivery of travel gear and accessories. Nasher Miles has also kickstarted its modern retail foray with Broadway, in Delhi, a one-of-a-kind experiential store led by Vivek Biyani.
In a significant move to strengthen its commitment to domestic manufacturing, Nasher Miles is set to accelerate its Make in India campaign. The company announced the establishment of a dedicated manufacturing and warehousing facility in Gujarat, with a monthly capacity of over 50,000 units. This strategic move is expected to optimize manufacturing costs, reduce time to market for both B2B and D2C customers, increase production to cater to growing demand via different channels, and allow easy customization for B2B orders.
Abhishek Daga, Chairman of Nasher Miles, elaborated on this initiative. “This is our first step in a series of many as we look to consolidate our Make in India initiative. We are on track to move over 75% of our production to domestic facilities by the end of the financial year.”
Looking ahead, Nasher Miles plans to introduce a new range of backpacks and more premium luggage with features such as anti-theft zippers, expanders, and TSA locks. "Coming October 2024, you will see us in a fresh and bolder avatar where Nasher Miles will help 'Unpack You'," Daga added, hinting at upcoming branding initiatives.
As Nasher Miles continues to bridge the gap between online and offline retail, the company remains committed to offering a wide variety of colorful luggage while improving quality and expanding its product range to cater to diverse customer needs.
