Moonlighting: Infosys fired two employees
Moonlighting: Infosys has clarified that the company does not support 'moonlighting' i.e. working in two places at the same time. The company also said that it has fired employees who did this in the last 12 months.
Infosys Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Salil Parekh said during the company's second quarter financial results announcement on Thursday that the company does not support two jobs at the same time. Parekh said, "We do not support working with one job...we have taken action against employees who were found to be doing two jobs in the past and where there was an issue of confidentiality." Infosys is one of the companies which has taken a tough stand against 'moonlighting'. Last month, Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji had said that 300 employees have been fired due to 'moonlighting'. He had clearly said that there is no place in the company for such employees, who also work for the rival company.

"While working with HCL, we do not endorse working elsewhere," the company's Chief People Officer (CPO) Ramachandran Sundararajan said in a statement on Q2 results. “Every person working for HCL Tech signs an employment contract. This requires specificity. We expect our employees to honor the commitments contained in the contract.” He added that fortunately moonlighting has not emerged as a major problem within HCL Technologies.
