Dhoni became the brand ambassador of drone startup Garuda Aerospace, also invested in the company
Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been appointed as the brand ambassador of drone startup Garuda Aerospace. The company announced this on June 6. Dhoni has also invested in this company and he has become its shareholder. Chennai-based Garuda Aerospace recently announced its plans to support agriculture. The company said in April that it was working on a model to sell drones to village-level entrepreneurs or pesticide and fertilizer retailers.
Garuda Aerospace has 300 drones and 500 pilots in 26 cities. It is on its way to become India's first drone unicorn startup. Garuda Aerospace is one of the four drone startups selected by online food delivery service Swiggy for a pilot project for its grocery service Instamart. Under the pilot project, the delivery of groceries will be done through drones. Drones will be used to supply goods to dark stores of sellers and from dark stores to common customer points. The delivery partner will then pick up the order from the common point and deliver it to the customer. Dark store means a one-of-a-kind local store. It does not have customers. There are shelves and racks for storing groceries.
India is the second largest country in the world in terms of population and the seventh largest country in terms of area. In such a situation, it is very challenging to provide food security to such a large population. Therefore it is necessary that instead of traditional farming, modern and technical farming should be expanded. Due to rising cost of cultivation and natural calamities, farmers are also suffering from farming. In such a situation, precision farming done through technology like drones can give better options to the farmers of the country. Using drones, farmers can increase their income by reducing cost and saving time. Spraying insecticides in the traditional way has its effect on health. But this can be avoided with the use of drones.
MS Dhoni himself does farming. He has a farmhouse in Ranchi, where organic fruits and vegetables are grown. The cricketer said that he is happy to be a part of Garuda Aerospace. Agneswar Jayaprakash, CEO, Garuda Aerospace said that he is a big fan of Dhoni. Jaiprakash said, “Having Dhoni in the Garuda Aerospace family is a dream come true. Captain Cool's support will motivate our team to perform better.
